SUMMARY
The Senior Accounting Specialist will be responsible for daily, weekly, and monthly accounting tasks and activities. Candidate must have a strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and perform accounting activities that are in line with accounting policies and procedures of Hanwha Q Cells Geogia to ensure accurate financial reporting. This position reports to the Accounting Manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Review appropriate ledger entries and reconciliations.
- Set up and maintain code of accounts.
- Assist in the monthly accounting close procedures including proper period end cut-off and accounting close schedule.
- Close cooperation with Finance & Accounting in Korea HQ.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Review and reconcile invoices by verifying entries and comparing to ERP system reports.
- Assist with regulatory reporting as applicable.
- Support the preparation of annual business plan for Finance team.
- Develop and implement the system of Internal Control over accounting functions. Identify and analyze risks related to financial reporting and operational processes and assist the external auditors with certain substantive auditing procedures.
- Review and verify fixed asset acquisition entries in the ERP system.
- Support the preparation of the corporate tax return.
- Research accounting issues for compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
- Communicate with other departments to coordinate procedures.
- Respond to questions regarding external auditor’s review and year-end audit.
- Hire, train and supervise accounting staff.
- Performs additional duties and special assignments as required.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Prior experience in accounting, tax, and financial analysis.
- Bi-lingual (English, Korean) skills.
- Excellent management and supervisory skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Mastery of accounting and tax preparation software.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office or similar software.
- Strong Excel skills: Pivot Table, V-Lookups, filters, etc.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration preferred.
- Seven years or more of related experience is required.
- Certified Public Accountant is highly preferred.
- Bilingual in English and Korean is preferred.
- Consolidate work experience preferred.
- SAP experience is a plus.
