Tool Design Specialist – Die Casting

Hanson International, located in St. Joseph, Michigan, specializes in the design, build, sample, and inspection of precision molds for the die cast and plastic industry. Hanson International is currently seeking an experienced candidate to fill a Tool Design Specialist – Die Casting position. The die designer position supports the engineering department with designing plastic injection molds and die cast dies.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Study customer specifications, engineering data, and tool orders to develop tool designs.
• Develop complete 3-D assembly model with associated 2-D drawings using appropriate CAD software.
• Support production needs through enhancements and upgrades in existing production tools for optimal output and quality.
• Work with suppliers on problem tools to find solutions.
• Directly work with purchasing, sales project engineering, manufacturing and other necessary groups as a cross functional team to develop tooling solutions.
• Follow all corporate engineering standards including documentation and file management.
• Plan and schedule daily tasks. Develop solutions to problems using education, experience, and judgment.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:

• 5 years of experience in mold/die design.
• Strong understanding of the function and operation of a die/mold.
• Active learning, good judgment, and time management skills.
• Strong math and communication skills.
• Good mechanical knowledge.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
