Duties
- Greet patients warmly, verify insurance information, and facilitate smooth check-in and check-out processes
- Schedule appointments efficiently using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems
- Manage patient records with accuracy, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies
- Collect payments, process medical collections, and handle billing tasks related to insurance claims including Medicare and health insurance knowledge
- Review medical documentation for completeness and accuracy, including CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, and care plan documentation
- Assist clinicians with administrative support such as preparing treatment rooms, updating medical records, and managing clinical paperwork
- Answer multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette, providing excellent customer service to patients and providers alike
Skills
- Some knowledge of medical billing, coding (CPT, ICD-9/10), and insurance processes including Medicare procedures or a willingness to learn
- Excellent computer skills for documentation review and administrative tasks
- Prior clinic or medical office experience with a focus on front desk operations and patient service excellence is a plus
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies to ensure patient privacy at all times
- Exceptional organizational skills for filing, data entry (including 10 key typing), and managing medical records efficiently
- Outstanding communication skills for engaging with patients over the phone and in person while demonstrating professionalism and empathy
