Retail Assistant Manager

POSITION PURPOSE

The purpose of this position is to assist the Store Manager with all aspects of daily retail operations while supporting sales growth, customer satisfaction, employee development, and operational efficiency.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Support and promote Hansen's Dairy products and business philosophies
• Maintain excellent customer service standards
• Assist in achieving sales, profitability, and operational goals
• Support employee training and development
• Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming store environment

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Assist with daily store operations
• Maintain proper sales margins and update pricing
• Increase retail and food sales through merchandising and customer engagement
• Perform inventory counts and place vendor orders
• Prepare month-end invoices and related administrative tasks
• Train, coach, and monitor employees during shifts
• Check in deliveries and stock shelves
• Create price signage and merchandising displays
• Maintain store appearance, sanitation, and organization
• Perform managerial responsibilities in the absence of the Store Manager
• Collaborate with the Waterloo store and other company locations as needed
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and productivity
• Attend meetings and training sessions as requested
• Assist with schedule coverage as business needs require
• Communicate effectively with management, coworkers, and ownership
• Maintain a positive and engaging retail experience for customers
• Perform other duties as assigned to support business operations

QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred

• Prior retail leadership or supervisory experience
• Experience with inventory management and point-of-sale systems
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Basic computer proficiency

Physical Demands

• Stand for extended periods of time (4 hours)
• Frequently bend, stoop, reach, and move throughout the store
• Lift and carry up to 40 pounds
• Scoop hard-dip ice cream and prepare food products
• Operate retail, food preparation, and office equipment
• Utilize listening, verbal communication, observational, and computer skills

Work Schedule Expectations

• Full-time position averaging approximately 35 hours per week
• Evening, weekend, holiday, and additional coverage hours may be required based on business needs

Environmental Conditions

• Retail and food-service environment
• Exposure to refrigerated and freezer areas
• Frequent interaction with customers, employees, and vendors

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

• Hourly wage: $17.50 per hour
• Full-time position (approximately 35 hours per week)
