Part-Time Food Prep Specialist / Cashier

Hansen's Dairy Cedar Falls is a convenience store offering local groceries, fuel, hot food and ice cream treats.

• Must be 18 years of age to operate kitchen equipment
• Shifts are 2-9 p.m. weekdays and weekends, 20-25 hours/week
• Food service experience is preferred but not required

The Food Prep Specialist/Cashier will:

• Prepare pizza, sandwiches, fried foods and more in proper proportions using food safety practices
• Stock all shelves, coolers and freezers using proper method of first-in, first-out rotating
• Complete cleaning tasks — counters, dishes, floors, etc.
• Provide friendly and informational customer service while hand-selling the extraordinary products in the store
• Handle transactions in the point-of-sale system
• Scoop ice cream

Essentials for this position

• Able to spend up to 100% of your shift on your feet
• Scoop hard-dip ice cream and prepare food in proper proportions
• Able to carry 40 pounds
• Able to work short stints in a walk-in freezer (wearing jacket and gloves)
• Able to work both alone and with others
• Excellent listening, verbal, observational and computer skills with attention to detail
• Basic math, reading and writing skills with legible handwriting

Compensation

• 25% discount on retail items at Hansen’s Dairy stores in Waterloo, Cedar Falls and Hudson; only the employee and the employee’s spouse are eligible for this discount, or parents if they are in the same household as employee

• One to two scoops of ice cream while on shift (may not consume while working at the retail counter)
• One hot food item from the store and one fountain pop or coffee while on shift
• Job Type: Part-time, starting at $11.50/hour with opportunity for higher wage based on experience
