Instructor of Education
Hanover College seeks a full-time, continuing Instructor of Education (non-tenure track) specializing in Elementary Education, with preference for candidates who bring strong backgrounds in science and mathematics teaching. The successful candidate will join a collaborative faculty team dedicated to excellence in a rigorous, field-based preservice teacher preparation program. The position requires teamwork, reflective practice, and a strong commitment to preparing effective and inclusive educators. Preference will be given to applicants with special education experience and demonstrated success supporting diverse learners. Required Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Education or a closely related field; substantial experience teaching in elementary classrooms (grades K–6); demonstrated expertise in science and mathematics instruction; knowledge of teacher preparation areas including classroom management, pedagogy/methods, diversity, and assessment; commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion; evidence of collaboration and professionalism in teacher preparation; teaching experience at the college level preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
Extensive experience teaching science and math at the elementary level; background or licensure in special education; experience mentoring or teaching college students; experience with curriculum design, field supervision and accreditation.

  • Contribute actively to a cohesive faculty team that emphasizes collaboration, shared responsibility, and mutual support in all program areas.
  • Demonstrate excellence in teaching, mentoring, and supervision of preservice teachers in both college coursework and field-based experiences.
  • Maintain high expectations for academic rigor, professionalism, and continuous improvement within the teacher preparation program.
  • Engage in curriculum development aligned with state and national standards, emphasizing conceptual understanding and best practices in science and mathematics education.
  • Participate in department and college committees, assessment initiatives, and accreditation processes.
  • Collaborate with local schools, mentor teachers, and community partners to strengthen field placements and professional development opportunities.
  • Contribute to the department’s culture of reflective practice, innovation, and commitment to educational equity.
The Educator Preparation Program at Hanover College, accredited since 1954, is nationally recognized for producing reflective, ethical, and skilled teachers grounded in the liberal arts.
