Hannum Street Veterinary Clinic is a brand new, privately and locally owned small animal hospital opening in Alcoa, TN. We're looking for a warm, organized, and client-focused Veterinary Receptionist to be the welcoming face of our clinic.

SCHEDULE & HOURS
- Monday – Friday only | 7:30 AM – 5:00 PM (1-hour lunch)
- 4.5-day work week
- No evenings, no weekends, no holidays, no on-call
- No boarding, no grooming
RESPONSIBILITIES
Client Relations & Communication
- Greet clients and patients with warmth and professionalism in person and by phone
- Answer phones, schedule appointments, and manage client communications
- Check clients in and out; collect and process payments accurately
- Communicate estimated wait times and keep clients informed throughout their visit
- Handle client concerns with empathy, patience, and professionalism
- Educate clients on services, preventative care, and pricing clearly and transparently
Medical Records & Administrative
- Maintain accurate medical records using Shepherd practice management software
- Request and transfer medical records from other veterinary practices
- Process prescription refill requests and coordinate with the veterinary team
- Manage incoming mail and email correspondence
- Assist with end-of-day reconciliation, cash drawer, and daily closing tasks
Clinic Support & Cross-Training
- Keep the lobby and reception area clean, tidy, and welcoming throughout the day
- Support pharmacy and retail product sales, including prescription diets and OTC products
- Cross-train in other clinic areas to support our small team as needed
- Support client reminder and follow-up calls
- Participate in team meetings and continuing education opportunities
- Support community outreach events and clinic marketing efforts as needed
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Previous receptionist or front desk experience required; veterinary experience preferred
- Exceptional phone and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong organizational and multitasking ability in a fast-paced environment
- Comfortable discussing estimates, invoices, and payment options with clients
- Calm, compassionate demeanor — especially with anxious clients and pets
- Commitment to Fear Free and low-stress patient handling philosophies
- Basic computer proficiency; veterinary software experience a plus
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and be on your feet for extended periods
- Comfortable and willing to work around animals of all temperaments and sizes
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
- Starting wage: $15.50 – $18.00/hr, commensurate with experience
- Uniform/scrub stipend after 90 days of employment
