Firefighter-Paramedic-Platoon

Job Duties/Scope Of Work
Perform the job duties and possess the qualifications of a firefighter or firefighter paramedic. Perform all phases of advance emergency medical service activities and maintain Washington State Paramedic Certification and continuing education requirements for paramedic candidates. Maintain ambulances and medical inventories and follow EMS protocols as established by the Medical Program Director in all classifications. Participate in Washington State Firefighter Apprenticeship Program (up to 3 years), including off-plant class time at an accredited higher education institution. In the first year of employment must successfully complete both an initial hire Firefighter recruit academy and a probationary evaluation period.

Perform suppression, rescue, hazardous materials response, inspection testing and maintenance duties in accordance with NFPA requirements, as required by DOE Order 420.1. This position is initially assigned to a day-shift Mon-Thurs during the new hire training process.

Basic Qualifications
*Possess a high school diploma or GED.

• Prior full-time paid experience as a Firefighter Paramedic for all Paramedic candidates.
• Current certification as a Washington State Emergency Medical Technician OR National Registry Paramedic for Paramedic candidates.
• Firefighter certification at the IFSAC OR ProBoard OR Washington State Apprenticeship Council: Firefighter 1 level for all candidates
• Haz-Mat Awareness and Haz-Mat Operation's certification.
• Must have passed a local Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) incumbent Firefighter Physical within last calendar year for Journeymen candidates.
• Must meet predetermined medical/physical fitness requirements.
• Must pass an annual HFD physical fitness assessment.
• Must possess/obtain and maintain a valid WA State Driver's License.
• Successful applicants must continue to meet all required certifications and standards throughout employment, (i.e.: NPFA Standards, DOE Orders, medical, security, fitness, etc.).
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) Credential badge.

• International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) or ProBoard Firefighter 1.
• National Registry - Emergency Medical Technician – Paramedic.
• IFSAC or ProBoard Haz-Mat Awareness and Operations level certifications.
• National Registry - Emergency Medical Technician – Paramedic or Washington State Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic

Desired Qualifications
*Prior experience as a professional full-time paid Firefighter.

Compensation & Benefits
Hourly Rate: $39.710 to $46.249 (Platoon)

This position may be required to complete a probationary period. Benefits for eligible employees will begin on day one.
