Job Duties/Scope Of Work
The Business Process Analyst on the Continuous Improvement team plays a key role in driving sustained organizational excellence across the Hanford Mission Essential Services Contract (HMESC). This position is dedicated to fostering a culture of continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve overall performance. The ideal candidate possesses Lean Six Sigma training or certification and combines strong analytical capabilities with hands on experience applying structured improvement methodologies to deliver measurable, lasting change. Collaboration with cross functional teams and One Hanford Contractors (OHC) is essential to advancing mission success.
Essential Functions
With limited direction, the Business Process Analyst will support and advance continuous improvement efforts by:
- Leading assessments of business processes to uncover inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and opportunities for ongoing optimization.
- Conducting Lean Six Sigma (LSS) Structured Improvement Activities such as kaizens, value stream mapping, and process development kaizens.
- Engaging stakeholders across departments to document current state processes and co design improved future state workflows.
- Developing, implementing, and supporting strategies that streamline operations and strengthen performance.
- Driving and supporting problem solving initiatives of varying complexity with an emphasis on long term improvement.
- Designing, tracking, and refining key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure outcomes, monitor progress, and inform further enhancements.
- Facilitating improvement workshops, focus groups, and training sessions to build organizational capability in continuous improvement practices.
- Applying methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, SIPOC, Agile, and other structured improvement tools to promote best practices and standardization.
Basic Qualifications
*Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in business process analysis or continuous improvement Lean Six Sigma roles.
- Training or Certification in Lean, Six Sigma (Green Belt or higher), or similar methodologies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with process mapping, workflow design, and KPI development.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to facilitate workshops and collaborate across teams.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with limited supervision and manage complex initiatives.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) Credential badge.
Desired Qualifications
*Experience working within government contracts or regulated environments (preferably nuclear/environmental services).
- Experience with Agile project management practices.
- Familiarity with Hanford Site operations and collaboration with One Hanford Contractors (OHC).
