What are the responsibilities and job description for the Remodeling Estimator position at Handyman Services of CT?
We are seeking an Estimator and/or Project Manager to join our team!
This person should have experience and knowledge of a variety of home improvement projects. This person should feel comfortable estimating projects that include finish carpentry and rough carpentry. Ideally, we are looking for someone with past experience in carpentry, including kitchen and bath remodels, in addition to installing doors, windows, flooring, tiling, siding, decking, and rot repair. They should feel comfortable working independently and collaborating with others on a daily basis. Must be a self starter.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with business owner, office staff, current carpenters, subcontractors, vendors and homeowners to gather necessary information for job estimating purposes.
- Use computer software to create detailed cost breakdowns and proposals.
- Conduct site visits and evaluations to assess project scope.
- Prepare estimated labor quotes and material pricing based on project requirements.
- Research and source pricing for materials, equipment, and subcontractor services.
- Develop and maintain relationships with current team, suppliers and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing and availability of materials.
- Present estimates to owner and clients, explaining the basis of the estimate.
- Manage material ordering and delivery schedule.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as an estimator in residential home remodeling
- Strong knowledge of construction projects and various materials.
- High proficiency in software such as Quickbooks or similar.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking.
- Expert in managing skills with time, estimates, projects.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with homeowners, office staff, and third parties.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
