Hand Biomechanics Lab, Inc. is a small orthopedic medical device company committed to the analysis and solution of difficult surgical problems. In close cooperation with our research group, we have developed and now manufacture several devices used by surgeons during patient care for hand and upper extremity conditions.
The Assembly QC Technician ensures that components, subassemblies, and assemblies meet technical and performance specifications per preapproved manufacturing assembly procedures. This role is critical to delivering a quality device for surgeons to treat each patient as well as to support our company reputation. QA assembly and inspection helps ensure every single device leaving our facility functions as labeled.
Responsibilities
- Read, understand, and follow various protocols at direction of Operations Manager.
- Pull parts from inventory per issued production traveler and document lot numbers.
- Follow manufacturing procedures to perform assembly activities in the cleanroom.
- Inspect components, subassemblies, and assemblies per in-process quality assurance steps outlined in manufacturing procedures. Forward nonconforming parts to Quality Manager for disposition.
- Assist with shipping and receiving palletized products for sterilization.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to collaboratively work in a team and indepentendly.
- Proven attention to detail, critical thinking and time management skills.
- Enthusiasm and experience working in a team environment with direction from multiple stakeholders and colleagues.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, and Outlook preferred.
Working conditions
- Cleanroom apparel is provided and protocols must be followed while working in the controlled manufacturing room.
- Hair nets and beard covers are provided and must be worn during some tasks to avoid foreign body contamination in otherwise sterile packages.
- Isopropyl alcohol, bleach, Crystal Simple Green, and other chemicals are used for cleaning prior to various activities including assemblies and inspections.
Physical requirements
- Daily activities vary significantly. Assembly of small parts requires manual dexterity. Days may be spent sitting or standing while assembling, loading assemblies into package sealer, or lifting boxes and pallets up to approximately 50 pounds.
