What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant position at Hand and Shoulder Center?
Clinical Duties:
- Suture removal, cast and splint applications and removal, post- operative dressing changes, wound care, injection preparation
- Assist physician with aspiration and other minor office surgeries.
- Assist physician with patient education and instruction in splint/cast care and any medical equipment ordered.
- Collect and send laboratory specimens.
- Collect and discard bio-hazardous materials.
- Follow proper procedure for sterilizing instruments.
- Stock and organize medical supplied and patient rooms.
- Keep clinical area clean and safe for patients and co-workers.
- Complete orders for medications and/or therapy.
- Complete paper work required for surgery, along with appropriate testing.
- Act as a liaison between the physician, patient, co-workers, therapists and all outside personnel.
- Assist in steady patient flow during office hours.
- Verify procedure and diagnosis coding has been completed.
- Assist with importing testing images into EXA.
- Assist Xray tech with making cortisone injections.
- Complete signing off on charts and nurse notes.
- Complete importing X-rays into PACs system.
- Complete testing Authorizations and notifying patients.
- *Respond to all incoming inquiries related to patient medical care and prescription refills.
- Complete disability forms and record payment on other income form.
- Prepare charts for patients to be seen, make sure test results and reports are in order.
- Provide support to Practice Manager by assisting with operating functions as requested.
- Demonstrate and reflex a commitment to the values and mission of the office.
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
