What are the responsibilities and job description for the Service Technician position at Hancock Repair?
Hancock Repair is looking for a skilled automotive service technician to join our growing truck and automotive repair team. The applicant in this role will be responsible for servicing cars and trucks brought into the shop, from basic maintenance and minor repairs to full vehicle service. The ideal candidate we are seeking needs to have a background in automotive care, as well as experience with electronic systems maintenance.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Inspect vehicles from customer requests and/or concerns
- Perform basic maintenance that includes tires and alignment, checking fluid levels, and changing oil
- Inspect and repair or replace worn parts and systems such as spark plugs, wheel bearings, brake pads, fuel systems, and sensors
- Perform tests on systems and individual parts to ensure proper working condition and/or degree of damage
- Follow proper auto repair workflow to ensure thorough examination of all parts and systems
- Identify mechanical and electrical problems with both computerized diagnostic equipment and the naked eye
- Consider thorough repair measures from research, peer-to-peer examination, and past automotive service repairs
- Present accurate estimates to customers that includes strategy for repair to customers along with clear explanation of problems, procedure steps
- Perform automotive repairs efficiently, taking into account original repair strategy and customer specifications
- Ensure customer satisfaction at all times from start to finish of service
Requirements And Qualifications
- ASE certification a plus
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Basic computer skills required
- Experience with electronic systems maintenance and repair
- Experience in engine performance and repair
- Good verbal communication skills to explain auto repair information to customers and other service technicians
- Be able to utilize critical thinking and troubleshooting skills
- Mechanically and detail orientated
- Physical strength and stamina, and ability to lift 50 lbs. unassisted
