What are the responsibilities and job description for the Night Cleanup position at Hancock Lumber?
REPORTS TO: On Site Supervisor
CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt
Base pay starting at $21 per hour
POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for ensuring a clean, safe, and well-maintained work environment across all areas of the operation
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintain cleanliness throughout the mill, including outside offices, yard, sawmill, and planer mill.
Sweep, clean, shovel, and remove debris from floors and around equipment.
Sort and dispose of collected materials into the appropriate waste streams.
Perform minor maintenance tasks such as changing drive belts and greasing machinery.
Follow proper Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures for equipment safety.
Empty trash receptacles daily.
Serve as watchman when required.
Wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Understand and adhere to Hancock Lumber's Safety and Mission Statements.
Perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of the lumber industry and related operations.
Ability to read, write, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and maintenance manuals.
Excellent focus and attention to detail in fast-paced environments.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, adapting to shift requirements.
DESIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, manufacturing environment.
REPETITIVE PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Lift 60# from floor to waist, lift 40# from waist to shoulder
- Carry 60# over a distance exceeding 12 feet
- Push 100# in a wheeled cart
- Stand on a cement floor for long periods of time
- Bend, stoop, or squat to floor level and climb repeatedly
- Reach overhead to grasp materials
- Ability to walk up and down stairs to access machinery.
