What are the responsibilities and job description for the Wall Panel Fabricator position at HANCOCK LUMBER CO., INC.?
We are currently fabricating wall panels at our Windham, ME facility. Team members hired now will begin work and training in Windham. In early 2027, we will transition operations to our new wall panel fabrication plant in Oxford, ME. We are seeking individuals who are open to growing with us through this transition and joining our Oxford team long term.
WALL PANEL FABRICATOR
(MUST BE 18 YEARS OF AGE)
DEPARTMENT: Windham Wall Panel Shop
SUPERVISOR: Windham Manager/Wall Panel Manager
SUPERVISES: N/A
POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for accurate and efficient fabrication wall panels.
FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Understands and follows all safety policies and procedures

Takes personal responsibility for their own safety and those working around
them - Participates in safety huddles and uses our safety observation system: SOS
- Report unsafe conditions and behaviors when recognized
- Will use recommended PPE when and where it is required2. To produce pre-fab panels per job specifications.
- Cut 2x’s to proper lengths and safely assemble to package specifications.
- Clean-up areas after shift.
- Help in other areas of operations when needed.
- Saturday work as needed.
- Know Hancock Lumber Safety and Mission Statements.
- Other duties may be assigned
- DESIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum: High school diploma or equivalent.
General carpentry
- Minimum: High school diploma or equivalent.
- KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Good working knowledge of math.
- Must be able to accurately read blueprints and tape measures.
- Comfortable in using pneumatic air nailer
- REPETITIVE PHYSICAL DEMANDS: (Sawmill category)
- Lift 60# from floor to waist, lift 40# from waist to shoulder.
- Carry 60# over a distance exceeding 12 feet.
- Push 100# in a wheeled cart.
- Stand on a cement floor for long periods of time.
- Bend, stoop, or squat to floor level repeatedly.
- Reach over head to grasp materials.
- Ability to walk up and down stairs to access machinery.
- ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Work in a fast paced environment and be able to do several tasks at the same time.
- Ability to stand and walk on concrete floors for entire shift.
- Employees are required to wear safety glasses and hearing protection.
- Ability to work in a safety sensitive environment with machinery and tools.
