REPORTS TO: Sawmill Manager
CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Purchasing Maintenance Support Technician is responsible for finding and purchasing products for Eastern White Pine Operations. This role locates reliable and quality-driven suppliers, researches materials and services, negotiates competitive prices, and processes purchase orders. The ideal candidate will have a safety-conscious mindset and strong mechanical aptitude.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Understands and follows all safety policies and procedures.
- Takes personal responsibility for their own safety and those working around them.
- Participates in safety huddles, stretch huddles, and near miss program.
- Wears required PPE.
- Maintains a clean and organized work area.
- Performs all mill purchasing/ and receiving.
- Understands the purchasing policy statement and objectives.
- Manages the parts room set-up, organization, and inventory controls.
- Manages the maintenance management systems, MP2.
- Assists Sawmill Manager and Maintenance/Sawmill Supervisor with technical support and hands on maintenance duties.
- Helps communicate and track, project planning.
- Understands downtime tracking.
- Records maintenance log data for each shift.
- Communicates with operators and receives feedback to act upon.
- Interprets technical data such as blueprints, etc.
- Researches parts needed and follows up on ordering status.
- Records all parts removed from parts room and records where used.
- Completes PMs and workorders daily.
- Maintains parts inventories considering downtime and cost reduction.
- Exercises discretion and independent purchasing judgement with respect to matters of significance to the company.
- Understands the importance of parts identification through labeling and tracking.
- Performs preventive maintenance on assigned equipment.
- Partners and communicates with employees, maintenance, and operators.
- Understands the importance of grade and yield to Eastern White Pine Operations.
- Other duties may be assigned.

DESIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 3 years of experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or mechanical environment preferred.
REPETITIVE PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Lift 60# from floor to waist, lift 40# from waist to shoulder
- Carry 60# over a distance exceeding 12 feet
- Push 100# in a wheeled cart
- Stand on a cement floor for long periods of time
- Bend, stoop, or squat to floor level repeatedly
- Reach overhead to grasp materials
- Ability to walk up and down stairs to access machinery
