POSITION SUMMARY:
The Preventive Maintenance Technician is responsible for taking a proactive approach to maintenance aimed at preventing equipment failures and prolonging asset life through regular inspections and servicing. The ideal candidate will have a safety-conscious mindset, strong mechanical aptitude, and be detail-oriented. The schedule is Monday - Friday from 3PM - Midnight.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Understand and follow all safety policies and procedures.
- Take personal responsibility for their own safety and those working around them.
- Participate in safety huddles, stretch huddles, and near miss program.
- Wear required PPE.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on equipment: belts, chain conveyors, hydraulic, pneumatic and lubrication systems, etc.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks and inspections to prevent equipment breakdowns and ensure optimal functionality.
- Clean, oil, and lubricate machines and parts to maintain performance.
- Record and report damaged, worn, or broken parts.
- Understand machine function and alignments.
- Test equipment and ensure machine operates after work completion.
- Read and interpret manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
- Work closely with production teams to troubleshoot equipment-related challenges and improve processes.
- Assist with mill projects.
- Other duties may be assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in the use of hand and power tools.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team while managing time efficiently.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
DESIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 2 years of experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or mechanical environment preferred.
REPETITIVE PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Lift 60# from floor to waist, lift 40# from waist to shoulder
- Carry 60# over a distance exceeding 12 feet
- Push 100# in a wheeled cart
- Stand on a cement floor for long periods of time
- Bend, stoop, or squat to floor level repeatedly
- Reach overhead to grasp materials
- Ability to walk up and down stairs to access machinery
