Fuel Transport Driver

Position Summary

The Fuel Transport Driver is responsible for safely transporting gasoline, diesel fuel, and other petroleum products from terminals or bulk plants to company locations and customer sites. This position requires professional driving, careful product handling, accurate recordkeeping, and strict compliance with company policies and all applicable transportation, safety, and environmental requirements.

The ideal candidate is safety-focused, dependable, customer-oriented, and comfortable working independently in changing weather and road conditions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Safely operate a tractor-trailer and fuel transport tanker.
  • Load petroleum products at terminals, bulk plants, and other approved facilities.
  • Deliver fuel to company locations, farms, commercial accounts, and other customer sites.
  • Verify product type, quantity, delivery location, and available tank capacity before unloading.
  • Follow all loading, unloading, grounding, bonding, spill-prevention, and vapor-recovery procedures.
  • Inspect hoses, valves, fittings, pumps, emergency equipment, and other delivery components before use.
  • Complete required pre-trip, post-trip, and in-route vehicle inspections.
  • Maintain accurate delivery tickets, bills of lading, mileage records, inspection reports, electronic logs, and other required documentation.
  • Follow assigned routes and schedules while communicating delays, shortages, equipment problems, or delivery concerns.
  • Monitor vehicle condition and promptly report maintenance or safety issues.
  • Keep the truck cab, tanker, and related equipment clean and professional in appearance.
  • Provide courteous and dependable service to customers and company personnel.
  • Respond appropriately to spills, leaks, accidents, and other emergencies according to company procedures.
  • Participate in safety meetings, training programs, and required drug and alcohol testing programs.
  • Follow all company policies and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Assist with other transportation or petroleum department duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License.
  • Tanker endorsement.
  • Hazardous Materials endorsement.
  • Current DOT medical certification.
  • Acceptable motor vehicle record and ability to meet company insurance requirements.
  • Ability to pass required background checks, drug screenings, and physical qualification requirements.
  • Working knowledge of commercial vehicle safety practices and hours-of-service requirements.
  • Ability to read delivery instructions, bills of lading, safety information, maps, gauges, and product labels.
  • Ability to perform basic calculations and maintain accurate records.
  • Strong communication, judgment, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently enter and exit the truck cab and climb ladders or steps.
  • Connect, disconnect, lift, pull, and carry fuel hoses and related equipment.
  • Bend, reach, kneel, crouch, push, and pull while loading or unloading products.
  • Lift and carry up to 50–75 pounds.

Schedule: Day shift – 40 hours per week

  • Monday to Friday
  • On call
  • Overtime

  • Bi weekly or Twice monthly
