What are the responsibilities and job description for the HIRING: Culinary Assistant to Grow With Hana Hou Juice Co. position at Hana Hou Juice Co.?
Kitchen Production & Juice Prep Assistant
Location: Oʻahu, HI
Status: Part-time to full-time, flexible start
Compensation: $20/hour to start, plus gas reimbursement for deliveries
Company: Hana Hou Juice Co.
Hana Hou Juice Co. is looking for a fast, reliable, detail-loving Kitchen Production & Juice/Salad Prep Assistant to join our growing team.
This is more than a kitchen job. It is a hands-on role inside a boutique wellness food company that privately creates cold-pressed juices, functional tonics, prepared meals, and custom wellness orders for health-conscious clients across Oʻahu. We are a small, high-standard operation where cleanliness, speed, organization, taste, presentation, and follow-through matter every single day.
We are looking for someone who can move quickly, stay focused, keep a kitchen spotless, take direction well, and grow with the business. For the right person, this position has the potential to develop into a management role.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Preparing produce for cold-pressed juice production
- Learning and executing Hana Hou Juice Co. recipes with consistency and precision
- Assisting with food prep, batch prep, order staging, labeling, and packaging
- Maintaining a clean, organized, food-safe kitchen environment
- Washing kitchenware, sorting, and organizing bottles for our return/recycling program
- Supporting daily production flow so orders are completed efficiently and beautifully
- Assisting with deliveries when needed
- Helping improve systems as the company grows
Who You Are
You are fast, clean, organized, and dependable. You care about doing things properly. You do not need to be micromanaged once trained, and you take pride in a beautiful finished product.
The right fit is someone who:
- Has experience in a high-volume juice bar, café, restaurant prep kitchen, cocktail bar, or culinary production environment
- Works quickly without becoming messy or careless
- Has strong attention to detail
- Can follow recipes and systems exactly
- Has a good sense of taste, presentation, and visual standards
- Communicates clearly and respectfully
- Can work independently and as part of a small team
- Takes direction well and can implement changes quickly
- Has a positive attitude and strong work ethic
- Is trustworthy, adaptable, and calm under pressure
- Is interested in wellness, food, nutrition, or entrepreneurship
Requirements
- Previous experience in culinary prep, high-volume juice production, café production, or a similar fast-paced food/beverage role
- Familiarity with food safety practices and kitchen sanitation standards
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Clean, reliable car for occasional deliveries
- Ability to lift, carry, wash, prep, stand, move quickly, and work on your feet
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Willingness to learn Hana Hou’s recipes, standards, and systems
Preferred Experience
- Juice bar or cold-pressed juice production experience
- Culinary prep or private chef support experience
- Café, restaurant, or catering experience
- Management or shift lead experience
- Nutrition, dietary aide, wellness, or health food background
- Social media/content awareness is a bonus, especially if you have an eye for beautiful food and behind-the-scenes kitchen content
Growth Opportunity
This role starts as a hands-on kitchen and production assistant, but for the right person, it is designed to grow into a much larger leadership role.
With training, the right fit could eventually step into a Kitchen Director position, overseeing daily production, maintaining recipe consistency, helping create new menu items, preparing custom meals for private wellness clients, and executing juice cleanses with minimal oversight.
Hana Hou Juice Co. works with clients who often have specific wellness goals, health challenges, dietary restrictions, and lab-based nutrition needs. Over time, this person would work directly with the owner to help choose and prepare the best-fit meals, juices, tonics, and cleanses for each client’s goals and diagnoses.
The owner’s long-term goal is to return more fully to clinical nutrition consultations, client assessments, and wellness planning — which means the right employee would become a trusted right hand in the kitchen and a key part of the company’s growth.
This is an opportunity for someone who wants to do more than prep food. The ideal person has culinary creativity, strong execution, emotional maturity, excellent organization, and the ability to care deeply about the final product. For the right employee who proves to be fast, reliable, skilled, and aligned with the company’s standards, a raise of up to $5/hour may be offered quickly.
