What are the responsibilities and job description for the Customer Acquisition Manager (Demand Generation & Growth) position at Hampton Roads Media Group?
Customer Acquisition Manager (Demand Generation & Growth)
Location: Chesapeake, VA
Type: Full-Time | In-Person
We’re looking for a growth-focused marketer to help generate qualified inbound leads and build a predictable sales pipeline for our advertising company.
The Customer Acquisition Manager is responsible for building and maintaining a consistent, high-volume pipeline of qualified leads for the sales team.
This role uses the same tools, channels, and strategies we deliver to clients, applied to our own business, to drive inbound demand, generate opportunities, and lower the cost of acquiring new customers.
You will also help position our local leadership as visible marketing authorities by developing and growing locally relevant content.
This role connects:
- strategy
- content
- paid media
- and lead generation
into a single, measurable growth system.
What You’ll Own
1. Pipeline Creation & Lead Generation
- Design and execute campaigns to generate inbound leads
- Use a mix of:
- paid media (social, search, display)
- owned media (website, email, podcast, radio)
- earned media (organic social, content distribution)
- Build and optimize funnels that move prospects from awareness to inquiry
You are responsible for the volume and quality of opportunities entering the pipeline.
2. Campaign Strategy & Execution
- Determine how to use available channels to drive demand
- Allocate budget across campaigns based on performance
- Launch, monitor, and improve campaigns continuously
- Work with internal teams to ensure campaigns are built and executed properly
You don’t rely on one channel—you build a system that works together.
3. Performance Measurement & Optimization
- Track and improve:
- cost per lead (CPL)
- cost per acquisition (CPA)
- lead-to-opportunity conversion rates
- Use data to refine targeting, messaging, and channel mix
- Ensure campaigns improve over time through testing and iteration
You make growth measurable and repeatable.
4. Podcast & Thought Leadership Development
- Work with local leadership to develop a podcast focused on marketing, advertising, and business growth
- Plan content around:
- the most searched and asked questions by local business owners
- real challenges businesses face in your market
- Coordinate recording, publishing, and distribution
- Use the podcast to generate awareness, trust, and inbound leads
You help turn local leaders into recognized voices in the market.
5. Content Planning & Market Relevance
- Identify topics that are actively being searched by business owners
- Align content with real demand in the market
- Ensure all content supports lead generation and positioning
- Work with content and creative teams to produce assets
You ensure what we create is relevant and useful—not generic.
6. Alignment with Sales & Leadership
- Work closely with sales teams to understand lead quality
- Adjust campaigns based on feedback from the field
- Ensure a steady flow of qualified opportunities
You connect marketing output to sales success.
What Success Looks Like
- A consistent pipeline of qualified inbound leads
- Measurable improvement in cost per lead and acquisition
- Campaigns that generate both volume and quality
- A growing podcast and content platform with local visibility
- Increased recognition of local leadership as marketing experts
- Sales teams rely on the pipeline you create
When this role is working well, growth becomes predictable.
The Type of Person Who Thrives Here
- Thinks in systems, not individual campaigns
- Is comfortable managing multiple channels at once
- Enjoys testing, measuring, and improving performance
- Takes ownership of outcomes, not just activity
- Understands both content and performance marketing
- Is motivated by building something that grows over time
Experience That Helps
- Experience in demand generation or digital marketing
- Familiarity with paid media platforms (Meta, Google, etc.)
- Experience with content strategy or audience growth
- Understanding of lead funnels and performance metrics
- Experience working with CRM and reporting tools
We care more about your ability to generate results than your titles.
