Spanning over 20,000 square feet, the BJ Roberts Behavioral Health Center is designed to serve individuals experiencing acute mental health crises. What would you do as a Therapist I?
The full-time Therapist I at the BJ Roberts Behavioral Health Center plays a pivotal role in managing a diverse caseload of clients facing mental illness and substance-related disorders. This position is geared toward delivering rapid assessment, evaluation, and crisis intervention within a multidisciplinary framework, ensuring that clients receive high-quality psychiatric and medical monitoring. what we are looking for in a therapist I
To excel as a full-time Therapist I at the Crisis Receiving Center, candidates must possess key skills that will enhance their ability to cater to the clients we serve.
To qualify for this position, candidates must have the following:
- Master's degree in Social Work or Counseling.
- One (1) year of clinical experience, particularly in therapeutic counseling, crisis intervention, and case management.
- Must provide proof of registration for supervision toward licensure with the Virginia Department of Health Professionals (LPC or LCSW) with 90 days of employment.
Additional essential skills include the ability to develop individualized, behaviorally specific treatment plans and behavioral contracts, as well as forming diagnostic impressions using DSM-5 criteria. A thorough understanding of substance abuse and its effects is crucial, along with proficiency in drug education curriculum development. The ideal applicant will have excellent oral and written communication skills, enabling them to foster effective relationships with both clients and staff, while maintaining accurate clinical records. Lastly, strong interpersonal abilities are vital for navigating stressful situations and building rapport with clients.
