Position Overview:
The Housekeeping Manager oversees all housekeeping operations to ensure guest rooms and public areas meet brand standards, company policies, and safety requirements. This role supervises and develops team members, conducts inspections, and coordinates daily activities to maintain quality and efficiency.
The position requires effective prioritization, problem-solving, and operational support as needed. The Housekeeping Manager contributes to guest satisfaction, team performance, and the overall success of the property.
Essential Job Functions:
- Supervise and coordinate daily housekeeping operations, including room cleaning, public areas, and laundry (if applicable)
- Inspect guest rooms and public areas to ensure cleanliness and compliance with brand and company standards
- Develop and manage staff schedules to ensure appropriate coverage based on occupancy levels
- Train, coach, and support housekeeping team members to maintain performance and service expectations
- Monitor inventory levels and order supplies as needed within budget guidelines
- Ensure compliance with all safety, sanitation, and OSHA standards
- Respond to guest concerns promptly and professionally to ensure a positive experience
- Collaborate with Front Desk and Maintenance teams to ensure efficient room turnaround and issue resolution
- Manage payroll, attendance, and performance documentation in accordance with company policies
- Support recruiting, onboarding, and ongoing development of team members
- Promote a culture aligned with Shamin Hotels’ values and service standards
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Directly supervises housekeeping staff, including Room Attendants, Housepersons, and Laundry Attendants
- Responsible for hiring recommendations, training, coaching, and performance management
- Ensures team adherence to company policies and standards
Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 1–2 years of housekeeping or hospitality experience
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred:
- Experience in a hotel or select-service environment
- Familiarity with brand standards (Hilton, Marriott, IHG, etc.)
- Basic computer skills, including scheduling and payroll systems
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and move for extended periods
- Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 25–50 pounds
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and reach as needed
Work Environment
- Primarily indoors within a hotel environment
- Exposure to cleaning chemicals and equipment
- May require weekends, holidays, and flexible scheduling based on business needs
