Job purpose
The Lead Server is an integral part of the restaurant team with exceptional service skills who creates a memorable dining experience for Members and guests. This position plays a key leadership role by assisting in training, directing, and supporting the service staff to ensure consistent, high-quality service in accordance with club standards.
Duties and responsibilities
- Deliver attentive, courteous, and professional service to members and guests in all dining areas.
- Lead by example and assist in training and mentoring servers, bussers, and food runners.
- Coordinate daily floor operations, including table assignments, service flow, and communication between front and back of house teams
- Ensure all service standards, policies, and procedures are consistently followed.
- Assist in the setup and breakdown of dining areas, special events, and private functions.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of service areas and ensure readiness for service.
- Monitor guest satisfaction and address concerns promptly and professionally.
- Support banquet and event operations as needed.
- Communicate effectively with kitchen and management teams to ensure smooth service.
- Acknowledges members and guests, politely thanks the members and guests upon departure.
- Conducts a physical inspection of the room and floor to ensure proper presentation.
Qualifications
- Previous food & beverage or hospitality experience required; supervisory or lead server experience preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a focus on teamwork and guest service
- Ability to multitask and remain calm and professional in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of wine, cocktails, and menu presentation is a plus.
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Working conditions
Work is primarily indoors with some outdoor exposure. Potential exposure to sharp and rapid equipment movement, sharp utensils, harmful chemicals and/or being exposed to flying golf balls.

Physical requirements
Good organizational and verbal skills. Ability to use logical and rational thinking to resolve issues. Ability to perform basic mathematical skills, monitor and develop subordinates, visually monitor the operation areas and write and read member communication.
Must have the ability to perform moderate physical work and may be required to lift up to 40 lbs.and up to 20 lbs. frequently. Perform activities such as bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing, reaching, standing, pushing, lifting and grasping for up to 5 hours without sitting. Ability to consistently lift, carry and load equipment that may weigh 30 or more pounds, and sustain aerobic activity for 20 consecutive minutes.
Please be advised that all work that requires the use of a ladder more than 8 ft. long must be reviewed by Hampton Golf’s Club Maintenance person. Following an assessment of the situation, a determination will be made as to whether a maintenance team member or subcontractors will perform the necessary maintenance task. No other staff member is authorized to climb to heights exceeding 8 ft. and/or perform such maintenance. In addition, personnel are prohibited from entering facility attics, walking on the roof of buildings and/or from using scaffolding.
