What are the responsibilities and job description for the Litigation Paralegal position at Hamood Law PLLC?
The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting attorneys in the the litigation phase. This candidate should feel comfortable conducting research, doing data entry, scheduling, maintaining case files, and completing other ad-hoc requests, as needed while the primary focus will be on medical record and authorization retrieval.
Duties and Responsibilities
Request and obtain medical records and billing statements from hospitals, clinics,
physicians, and other healthcare providers.
Prepare and send HIPAA-compliant authorizations to providers and insurance
companies.
Track outstanding record requests and follow up regularly with providers.
Ensure records received are complete, legible, and properly itemized.
Review incoming records for completeness and accuracy.
Upload, label, and organize records within the firm’s case management system.
Maintain an updated medical provider list for each client.
Obtain itemized billing statements and lien information.
Track medical balances, health insurance payments, and provider liens.
Maintain spreadsheets or internal tracking systems for total medical specials.
Review medical records and prepare medical chronologies.
Identify gaps in treatment or missing records.
Flag important findings for attorneys and paralegals (surgery recommendations, imaging
results, permanency opinions).
Communicate with clients.
Assist clients in identifying all treating providers related to their injury.
Work closely with attorneys and paralegals to ensure records are ready for demand
packages, litigation, or trial preparation.
Maintain strict compliance with HIPAA and privacy regulations.
Ensure proper storage and handling of confidential medical information.
Maintain logs or tracking systems.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- 2 years' as Litigation Legal Assistant or Paralegal
