Estimator – Sitework/Earthwork
JOB SUMMARY:
The main responsibilities of the Estimator include obtaining bid opportunities, preparing cost estimates by analyzing plans, submitting proposals to general contractors or owners, and monitoring bid results and activity. Estimator will be responsible for preparing estimates for excavation projects and will project costs by configuring a schedule and cost related to man hours and equipment needed on a per project basis. In addition to labor and equipment the estimator will estimate or gather quantities of materials needed and a cost applicable per project. The project estimator will also solicit bids from subcontractors and analyze the most cost-effective option.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Seeks and obtains bidding opportunities throughout Oklahoma and possibly extended areas
- Builds a network of clients for ongoing bid submittals
- Prepares work to be estimated by gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents
- Identifies labor, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents
- Computes costs by analyzing labor, material, and time requirements
- Reviews bid submittals with Project Managers prior to submittal
- Resolves discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information
- Presents prepared estimate by assembling and displaying numerical and descriptive information
- Maintains cost data base by entering and backing up data
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
- Participate in post project meetings to review results to assist in future bids
