Responsibilities
- Assist the head coach in planning and conducting daily track practices.
- Help organize and manage track meets and events, including setup and breakdown of equipment.
- Provide guidance and support to student-athletes in their training and skill development.
- Monitor student-athlete attendance and participation during practices and events.
- Foster a positive and encouraging atmosphere that promotes teamwork and sportsmanship.
- Communicate effectively with student-athletes, parents, and school staff regarding schedules, expectations, and progress.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants by enforcing safety protocols and guidelines.
- Assist in maintaining equipment and facilities in good condition.
- Attend coaching meetings and contribute to the overall development of the track program.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; experience in track and field or coaching preferred.
- Strong knowledge of track and field events, techniques, and training methods.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with student-athletes, parents, and staff.
- Ability to motivate and inspire young athletes to reach their full potential.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, during the track season.
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred; willingness to obtain certification if not already held.
- A commitment to promoting a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for all participants.
- Ability to pass a fingerprint-based background check per School Board policy.
