Responsibilities
- Safely operate a school bus or activity bus to transport students and participants to designated locations.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all passengers during transit.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure it is in good working condition.
- Maintain accurate records of mileage, routes, and any incidents that occur during transportation.
- Assist students and participants in boarding and disembarking from the bus, ensuring they are seated safely.
- Follow all traffic laws and regulations, as well as established safety protocols.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding transportation schedules and any changes.
- Report any mechanical issues or concerns to the transportation supervisor promptly.
- Attend training sessions and meetings as required to stay updated on safety practices and policies.
- Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for passenger transport.
- Clean driving record with no major violations or accidents.
- Previous experience driving a bus or similar vehicle is preferred but not required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
- Must pass a fingerprint-based background check per school board policy and drug screenings.
- CPR and first aid certification are a plus.
