What are the responsibilities and job description for the Property Appraisal Associate #1054 - Assessor of Property position at Hamilton County?
THIS POSTING IS FOR TWO (2) VACANCIES.
Under direct supervision, entry-level position that provides support in the appraisal of residential, commercial, and industrial property for tax purposes. Work involves collecting data, measuring property, performing basic field inspections, and assisting higher-level appraisers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following tasks, physical requirements, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other characteristics. Assists with field inspections, measuring and sketching basic structures. Gathers property details (square footage, land use, condition). Enters data into the CAMA system. Support appraisers in preparing reports.
Knowledge of basic property appraisal principles, terminology, and methods.
Ability to read maps, measure structures, and enter data accurately.
Skill in communicating with the public.
Skill learning appraisal procedures.
Ability to learn on the job under the direct supervision of an appraiser.
Must possess the equivalent of a high school diploma and have a valid driver’s license.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must complete the required Assessment Education Courses within one year of date of hire or as soon as courses are available. The cost of these courses will be covered by Hamilton County.
Prior to operating a County-owned vehicle, all employees are required to complete the HC Defensive Driving course and/or an Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC) provided at the department level.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Training in property appraisal or related coursework is preferred but not required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work requires walking on uneven terrain and construction sites to measure buildings and facilities in all weather conditions. requires some lifting and carrying of up to 35 pounds; requires riding in a vehicle for extended periods of time, standing or sitting for extended periods of time.
