What are the responsibilities and job description for the Trauma Program Manager position at HAMILTON COUNTY HOSPITAL DISTRICT?
JOB SUMMARY: Provides oversight of operational and nursing activities.
Consults with staff, physicians, Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) and the
Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) on nursing issues and interpretation of hospital
policies. Responsible for data collection and reporting at the local, state, and
regional level. Also responsible for data collection and reporting for internal
quality improvement purposes including but not limited to Trauma. Provides
professional nursing care within the clinical departments of the hospital, and
coordinates care planning with other disciplines. Determines priorities of care
based on physical and psychosocial needs, as well as factors influencing patient
flow through the system. Facilitates formulation, implementation, and monitoring
quality initiatives for process improvement with collaboration from Nursing
Leadership and Medical Directors. Develops, coordinates, and delivers
educational programs. This position requires on-call rotation as directed by
Nursing Leadership, and may be required to cover shifts as needed. Participates
as the primary all-encompassing RAC liaison and is required to participate in
RAC meetings, classes, and initiatives and will disperse information to Nursing
Leadership, Medical Directors, and staff. Required to participate in local, state,
and regional Emergency Preparedness activities on behalf of the hospital and in
collaboration with the Emergency Manager. May be required to perform
emergency duty before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the
event of an emergency, crisis situation or disaster (man-made or natural)
including evacuation sites. This position is OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Class
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
A. Education: Associate Degree in Nursing. BSN preferred.
B. Personal job-related skills: Effective oral and written communication skills;
basic computer knowledge; proficient in direct and indirect patient care with
minimum supervision; proficient in data collection and analysis.
C. Licensure, registry or certification: Registered Nurse currently licensed by
the State of Texas. BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications are required.
Additional certifications defined by DSHS as required for this position are
preferred, or be willing to obtain within one year of hire.
D. Experience:
a.Two years of experience as a professional Registered Nurse in the
Emergency Department setting.

b. Five years of Trauma Program experience is preferred.
E. Physical and Mental Requirements: Duties of the position require extended
periods of standing and walking. Bending, stooping, twisting, reaching and lifting
up to 50 pounds. Occasional heavy lifting when moving or supporting patients
who may suddenly become weak or helpless. Reasonable accommodations

supervise staff with fairness and clarity and be able to instruct staff on new
