The Computer Science Department at Hamilton College invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning July 1, 2027. We seek candidates with expertise in an applied area of systems, broadly construed. The ideal candidate will be able to teach Computer Architecture and related courses. The position requires institutional service including academic advising of undergraduate students after the first year. We are seeking candidates who can demonstrate their experience in teaching or working with broadly diverse student populations while contributing to a vibrant learning community that values academic freedom, creativity, and intellectual curiosity. Your cover letter should address the ways in which you would enhance the educational experience of students and further the College’s educational goals. Additionally, your cover letter should explain why you are interested in and a good fit for Hamilton College and teaching at a small liberal arts college.

The Computer Science Department faculty have a range of scholarly and teaching interests. An ongoing research program involving undergraduates is expected. Research support includes start-up funds, annual conference travel, a generous sabbatical leave program, and funding for summer research students. The position requires a Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related field; we will also consider candidates with ABD. The teaching load for this position is four courses during the first year and five courses thereafter. The expected 9-month base salary range for this position is $118,125 to $125,500.
