Job Summary

Supervisory Responsibilities

Option A — With PM Oversight: This role includes direct oversight of Project Managers. The Senior Project Manager provides mentorship, performance guidance, and development support to assigned PMs, and serves as an escalation point for project issues.
Option B — Without PM Oversight: This role does not include formal direct reports. The Senior Project Manager provides functional leadership and mentorship to the broader project team and coordinates with Site Superintendents, trade partners, and internal teams without direct supervisory authority.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Take ownership of complex and high-priority construction projects from award through closeout, ensuring accountability for schedule, budget, safety, and quality.
- Monitor and control project performance in close coordination with Site Superintendents to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Manage project budgets, cost tracking, forecasting, and financial reporting to support profitability and accountability.
- Execute and manage trade partner purchase orders within approved budget parameters.
- Collaborate with Site Superintendents to plan, organize, and direct construction activities.
- Establish project objectives, procedures, and performance standards in accordance with company policies and contract requirements.
- Price, review, and manage change orders, bulletins, and scope changes throughout the project lifecycle.
- Serve as a senior point of contact for owners, clients, and stakeholders to facilitate effective communication and project execution.
- Represent the company in project progress, coordination, and safety meetings.
- Work closely with the Contract Administrator to manage contractual and financial obligations while protecting company's interests and maintaining positive customer relationships.
- Identify, investigate, and address project risks, safety concerns, quality issues, and schedule impacts; implement corrective actions decisively.
- Serve as an internal escalation point for project issues, providing guidance and resolution support to the project team.
- Interpret and communicate plans, specifications, and contract terms to project teams and stakeholders.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships that support repeat business and reinforce Halyard's reputation in the market.
- Prepare and maintain accurate project documentation and reports related to progress, costs, schedules, and closeout.
- Mentor and support Project Managers and project team members in best practices, problem-solving, and professional growth.
- Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of Halyard's project management processes, tools, and standards.
- Partner with leadership on pre-construction planning, resource allocation, and project strategy.
- Facilitate construction close-out activities including documentation, evaluations, and final financial reconciliation.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Seven or more years of progressive project management experience in commercial construction; experience within interior finishes or related trades strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated track record managing complex, multi-phase, or high-value projects with strong outcomes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in an EOS®-based organization.
- Proficiency with Procore and construction financial management systems.
- Strong understanding of contract administration, change management, and risk mitigation.
- Experience mentoring or developing project management staff.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, safety regulations, and Division 9 interior finishes.
- Excellent budgeting, cost control, and financial analysis skills.
- Ability to lead, influence, and develop others across functions and levels of the organization.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to effectively communicate with owners, trade partners, and internal teams.
- High level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail.
- Ability to assess risk, anticipate issues, and implement effective solutions with confidence.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, MS Project, Procore, QuickBooks, and estimating software.
- Technological competency and comfort with project management platforms.
Physical Demands
- Ability to sit for extended periods in an office environment.
- Ability to perform regular jobsite visits requiring walking on uneven or elevated terrain.
- Ability to occasionally lift or carry light materials up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to perform all essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Work Environment
Permanent workspace at the corporate office in Rockford, Michigan. Regular jobsite visits are expected to monitor progress, support the project team, and maintain client relationships.
