What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Construction Project Manager position at Halyard?
About Halyard
Halyard has been in the business of exceptional interior finishes since 2004, growing from a local drywall shop into a nationally trusted construction services company. We specialize in cold-formed metal carpentry, drywall, and interior finishes for commercial and residential projects — and we’ve built our reputation on doing it right.
Headquartered in Kentwood, MI, we operate on the EOS® framework: clear goals, real accountability, and a team that actually communicates. If you’re a seasoned project manager who wants ownership, a voice at the table, and a company that invests in your growth, this is your role.
The Role
As a Senior Project Manager at Halyard, you’re not just managing timelines — you’re owning outcomes. You’ll lead complex, high-value construction projects from pre-construction through closeout, serve as a trusted point of contact for clients and stakeholders, and help shape how Halyard delivers its work. This is a senior leadership role with real impact.
You’ll also provide direct oversight and mentorship to Project Managers on your team — coaching their development, guiding them through challenges, and serving as their escalation point when projects get complex.
What You’ll Do
• Own projects end-to-end: schedule, budget, quality, safety, and client relationships
• Partner closely with Site Superintendents to keep field execution aligned with project goals
• Manage budgets, cost tracking, forecasting, and financial reporting to protect profitability
• Handle change orders, scope changes, and bulletins with confidence and precision
• Be the senior point of contact for owners and clients; build relationships that bring them back
• Identify risks early and act decisively — don’t wait for problems to become crises
• Represent Halyard in project meetings and with trade partners, setting a high bar for professionalism
• Provide direct oversight, mentorship, and performance guidance to Project Managers
• Contribute to improving Halyard’s processes, tools, and standards — your experience matters here
• Partner with leadership on pre-construction planning and project strategy
What You Bring
• 7 years of progressive project management experience in commercial construction
• A proven track record on complex, multi-phase, or high-value projects with strong outcomes
• Deep knowledge of construction methods, materials, and interior finishes (Division 9 a plus)
• Strong financial skills: budgeting, cost control, forecasting, and reporting
• The ability to lead, communicate, and build trust across all levels — from field crews to ownership groups
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and comfort with project management platforms
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or equivalent experience
Bonus Points
• Experience in an EOS®-based organization
• Proficiency with Procore and construction financial management systems
• Background in contract administration, change management, and risk mitigation
• Experience mentoring or developing PM staff
The Details
