7am-3:30pm weekdays
This is a leading manufacturer of frequency control products, specializing in ultra-low phase noise crystal oscillators. They are an established key player in the electronics industry, particularly in the military, aerospace, and high-tech sectors.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented New Product Introduction (NPI) Engineer with experience in oscillator components to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of hands-on experience in electronic component/Sub System design, with a strong focus on design for manufacturing (DFM) and transitioning products from development to full-scale production.
This role requires a deep understanding of oscillator system design principles, tight-tolerance component design, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure manufacturability, performance, and reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the detailed design of oscillator components including electrical performance, mounting, interconnects, and thermal management of component and high-level assemblies, to ensure robust production capability and yields
- Develop and release detailed 2D/3D CAD models and drawings (e.g., Autodesk Fusion-360, Altium, AutoCAD, etc.)
- Apply DFM and DFA principles to optimize designs for cost-effective and scalable production
- Work closely with manufacturing, supply chain, and quality teams to transition designs to production
- Conduct tolerance stack-ups, FEA simulations (as needed), and material selection to meet performance and reliability goals
- Collaborate with electrical and systems engineering teams to ensure mechanical-electrical integration of oscillator components
- Support prototype builds, first article inspections, and design verification/validation activities
- Interface with vendors to evaluate manufacturing capabilities and drive continuous improvement
- Create and maintain documentation including design reports, BOMs, assembly instructions, and change orders
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, (Master’s preferred)
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in product design, preferably in oscillator, RF, or precision timing products
- Proven experience in design for manufacturing (DFM) and transitioning designs to volume production
- Proficient in CAD software and PLM systems
- Strong understanding of materials, SMT and precision manufacturing techniques
- Experience with tolerance analysis, GD&T, and ASME/ISO drawing standards
- Familiarity with electronic packaging, thermal management, and vibration considerations
- Experience working in a regulated or high-reliability environment (e.g., aerospace, defense, telecom)
- Familiarity with oscillator technologies such as OCXO, TCXO, or quartz crystal-based designs
- Knowledge of environmental testing, shock and vibration standards, thermal cycling, etc.
