Title: Textile Designer
Reports to: Product Development Manager
Primary Location: New York Metropolitan Area (hybrid)
Position Summary
The Textile Designer is responsible for concepting, developing, and executing original and licensed textile prints for infant, baby and toddler soft goods. This role partners closely with Product Development, production, and overseas factories to develop and deliver production-ready artwork that meets brand standards, licensing requirements, and baby product quality expectations. The ideal candidate has strong textile and trend/color knowledge, hands-on factory experience, and a proven ability to carry prints from concept through bulk production.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Print, Color & Creative Support
- Concept and develop prints using trend research, Product Development guidance, brand direction, retailer needs and licensor style guides
- Design original and licensed repeat patterns for fabrics, either creating new artwork or leveraging approved assets
- Prepare production-ready artwork files in Adobe Illustrator / Photoshop, including technical repeats, Pantone color selection, color separation, correct scaling, and print-method optimization (rotary, digital, screen)
- Review and provide feedback on strike-offs, lab dips, PP and TOP samples, ensuring execution matches approved artwork, color intent, and overall aesthetic
- Communicate directly with overseas factories and mills providing clear, actionable feedback and troubleshooting print execution issues
- Ensure artwork, specs, and design files are current, labeled correctly, and stored according to standards
- Collaborate cross-functionally with PD, QA, sourcing, and design to ensure prints are manufacturable,
- compliant, and delivered on schedule
- Partner with Product Development to ensure prints align with product construction, pattern pieces, and silhouette requirements
- Translate approved print files into realistic product CADs on‑product mockups by digitally applying artwork onto baby garments (such as swaddles) for use in packaging, line reviews, and marketing imagery
Design & Development
- Support tech pack creation and updates by supplying finalized artwork, repeat specs, color callouts, and placement guidance.
- Create and maintain assortment sheets and visual tools, applying prints to silhouettes for line reviews and development decisions
- Partner with Product Development and Production to troubleshoot production issues (construction execution, fabric application, and print placement)
Licensor Approval Management
- Manage licensor artwork approval systems and workflows, including uploading artwork, tracking feedback, implementing required revisions, and ensuring all prints meet licensor brand standards, legal requirements, and approval timelines prior to production
What We’re Looking For
Education: Degree in Design
Experience:
- 3–5 years of professional experience in textile or print design
- Experience in baby, children’s, apparel, or soft goods CPG strongly preferred
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator and Photoshop) for print design and production file work
- Proven experience working with overseas factories and mills
- Strong understanding of textiles for baby soft goods, including woven and knit fabrics (muslin, jersey, bamboo-derived fabrics, blends)
- Knowledge of how fabric type, fiber content, and construction affect print clarity, color saturation, hand feel, and durability
- Expertise in building technical repeats and managing scale for infant and toddler products
- Solid working knowledge of textile print production methods and factory workflows
- Comfort working within licensor style guides and approval processes (Disney or similar a plus)

Salary ranges are based on paying competitively for our size and industry, and are one part of our compensation package, which also includes a comprehensive set of benefits and incentives. The base salary hiring range for this position is $70,000 - $80,000, but the final compensation offer will ultimately be based on the candidate's location, skill level and experience.
