Filling Technician

Job Summary:

The Pharmacy Filling Technician is responsible for accurately preparing, counting, labeling, and packaging prescriptions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. This role ensures all prescriptions are filled efficiently, safely, and in compliance with federal and state regulations, as well as company standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Receive and review prescription orders for accuracy and completeness.
• Prepare, fill, and label prescriptions according to the pharmacist’s verification.
• Retrieve, count, pour, weigh, measure, and sometimes mix medications.
• Maintain inventory of medications and supplies; report shortages promptly.
• Operate and maintain automated filling or counting equipment.
• Assist pharmacists with workflow to ensure timely dispensing.
• Maintain a clean and organized filling area that meets safety and compliance standards.
• Verify patient and medication information to avoid errors.
• Package and prepare completed prescriptions for pickup, delivery, or shipment.
• Adhere to HIPAA and all confidentiality regulations.
  
  

Requirements

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Registered Pharmacy Technician license, as required by state regulations.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining precision.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Basic computer and data entry skills required.
  
  

Working Conditions

• Pharmacy or warehouse environment.
• Requires standing, walking, and light lifting throughout the shift.
• May require evening, weekend, or holiday hours.
