About the Role
We’re seeking an experienced, enthusiastic Youth Mountain Bike Coach & Instructor to support and lead our year-round Youth Mountain Biking Club which a community-oriented program for riders ages 8–14. The clubfocuses on skill development, confidence building, and having fun on the trails. There are also additional opportunities within Hale's mountain bike programs to teach additional clinics and get involved in programs and events.
As a core part of our mountain bike team, you’ll be working with riders of all skill levels in non-competitive, small-group settings and helping create a safe, inclusive, outdoor learning experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and instruct small-group mountain bike rides after school, weekends, and seasonal sessions.
- Teach foundational to intermediate riding skills — body positioning, braking, shifting, cornering, and basic trail features.
- Create fun, engaging activities that build confidence and community among youth riders.
- Ensure safe riding practices and maintain a high standard of participant supervision on trails and in skills areas.
- Collaborate with other coaches, volunteers, and program staff to plan rides, drills, and skill progressions.
- Represent the club professionally with families, community partners, and during outreach events.
- Help refine program structure and contribute ideas for drills, progressions, and curriculum.
Qualifications
Required:
- Strong mountain biking experience in trail, skills park, or cross-country environments.
- Demonstrated ability to teach youth (ages 8–14) in outdoor or instructional settings.
- Excellent communication skills and positive leadership presence.
- Commitment to safety and inclusive community building.
Preferred:
- Certification in bike instruction (BICP or equivalent).
- First Aid/CPR certification.
- Experience coaching or leading youth sports or outdoor education programs.

Schedule & Compensation
- Variable after-school times, weekend group rides, and seasonal sessions; schedule set in partnership with the Mountain Bike Camp Director.
- Competitive hourly rate (depending on experience), with opportunities for growth into expanded roles (e.g., clinics, camps).
Pay: From $25.00 per hour
