What are the responsibilities and job description for the Multi-Tiered Support Specialist position at Hale County Juvenile Probation?
· MTSS Student Support Specialist will be an employee of the Hale County Juvenile Probation Department
· Student Support Specialist will office/work from a PISD/Juvenile Probation facility and follow all policies and procedures of PISD via a Memorandum of Understanding
· PISD’s Director of MTSS will supervise the Student Support Specialist and continue/maintain a strong working relationship with Hale JPO; Specialist will join/be a member of PISD’s current MTSS Team
· Fulfill professional duties and role as outlined in the MTSS Support Specialist position description Additionally, the Student Support Specialist will:
· Be an active member of the Hale County Community Resource and Coordination Group and responsible for following up on case/service plans for applicable students/families – ensuring all services are obtained
· Be an active member of the Llano Estacado Alliance for Families (LEAF)
· Attend Hale County’s Truancy Court to identify and work with siblings of youth already in the Juvenile Justice System.
· Participate as much as possible in other collaborative meetings in the community
· Be responsible for engaging youth and families, helping to reduce barriers, and connecting youth to appropriate resources and supports in a timely manner
· Be responsible for connecting and getting to youth and families to other resources
· Be supportive and empower youth and families in managing their mental health and overall well-being
Special Knowledge/Skills:
· Knowledge of individual and group counseling skills
· Knowledge and skill in casework methods
· Knowledge of behavior and social skill intervention techniques and methodology
· Strong consultation skills for conferencing with teachers, parents, and students
· Ability to develop and deliver training to adult learners
· Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
· Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
· Ability to present information in one-on-one, small group, and large group situations to students, parents, and district staff
Experience: 3 years’ experience in social work, counseling, or related field
Requirements:
· Master’s Degree – preferred (human services, social work, counseling, or education)
· Valid Texas license as a baccalaureate social worker (LBSW) granted by the Texas State Board of Social Worker Examiners (preferred), or Valid Texas license as a professional counselor granted by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors (preferred)
