Duties
- Set up and operate CNC milling machines while ensuring optimal performance and safety standards.
- Interpret mechanical blueprints and technical drawings accurately to determine machining requirements.
- Perform precise measurements using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), and other precision measurement instruments for quality control.
- Conduct machine calibration, tooling changes, and adjustments to maintain tight tolerances and high-quality output.
- Read and analyze blueprints, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and mechanical specifications for accurate manufacturing processes.
- Collaborate with team members on machine setup, troubleshooting issues with CNC programming or tooling to ensure seamless operations.
- Support lean manufacturing initiatives by optimizing workflows, reducing waste, and improving process efficiency.
- Conduct quality inspections during production runs to verify parts meet specifications using measurement instruments like micrometers and pin gages.
Requirements
- Proven experience operating CNC milling machines; familiarity with Haas and Fanuc controls is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of CNC programming languages including G-code and M-code; experience with CAM software like SolidWorks or CAD is advantageous.
- Ability to read mechanical blueprints accurately and interpret technical drawings with GD&T specifications.
- Mechanical aptitude with understanding of machining tools, tooling setup, machine calibration, and machining techniques.
- Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, dial indicators, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM).
- Basic math skills for calculating measurements, tolerances, feed rates, speeds, and other machining parameters.
- Mechanical blueprint interpretation skills combined with attention to detail for quality assurance purposes.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of safety and quality.
