Pay: $67,392 - $80,000/year BOE

Job-Type: Full-Time, Exempt

Shifts are based on operation hours of 6am-8pm. Candidates with open availability will be prioritized for next steps. Evening and weekend availability is required.

We are currently seeking a Store Manager to join our team at Haiku Market, where they will be responsible for supervising, directing and managing all phases of store market operations.

Store Managers are responsible for ensuring the highest level of customer service under the Company’s World Class Service Program throughout the store. This includes growing sales, enhancing profitability, providing World Class Service, offering unique, high-quality products in an inviting, customized environment and building strong relationships with all associates where our customers are the top priority. The Store Manager is a role model and leader and must solve problems, make informed decisions and manage the operations wisely in order to achieve maximum results.

The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

Leadership & Management

  • Maintain excellent communications amongst the entire management team, within all departments of the store, with customers and vendors and throughout the organization.
  • Conduct and work with Department Managers on all coaching, counselling and training of associates.
  • Direct and, when necessary, assist managers and associates in daily duties.
  • Maintain and enforce a positive, service-oriented attitude by all store associates toward customers and the company by adhering to the Company’s World Class Service Program.

Operations & Administration

  • Ensure proper maintenance and completion of all store records and reports, including but not limited to department schedules, employee evaluations and disciplinary notices.
  • Write, maintain and submit all required business correspondence, store manuals and reports.
  • Travel to other stores to assist as needed or to corporate meetings and training sessions.

Financial Management & Budgeting

  • Develop labor budgets and forecast expenses. Ensure proper staffing and efficient scheduling of personnel.
  • Contain store expenses, including labor budgets, and utilize energy conservation practices to meet budgetary goals. Order and control supply usage as necessary.
  • Ability to perform complex mathematical equations for working on gross profit, store budgets and pricing of store items.

Merchandising, Inventory & Product Management

  • Ensure compliance with all procedures for receiving, storing, ordering, price marking and restocking to ensure product quality, accuracy and rotation.
  • Ensure and enforce inventory control procedures to maximize freshness, quality, turnover and availability.
  • Ensure company policies are followed regarding damaged and spoiled products and control the level of damaged goods.
  • Ensure compliance with all company merchandising standards, including proper stock levels, facing, display, signage, fast sellers and shelf tags.

Compliance, Safety & Security

  • Observe and enforce all store and company policies, including safety, conduct, inventory control, record keeping, markups/markdowns, cash handling, cleanliness and customer service.
  • Address areas of possible loss due to theft, shoplifting, fraud and/or carelessness. Implement and maintain effective security standards and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with ID checking requirements for regulated products (e.g., alcohol sales).
  • Ensure compliance with local, state and federal health and civil code regulations, store housekeeping and sanitation standards.

Customer Service & Communication

  • Maintain and enforce a positive, service-oriented attitude among associates.
  • Ability to accurately handle special requests from customers and to provide outstanding customer service.
  • Effectively communicate and maintain a professional business relationship with all company vendors.
  • Regular and prompt attendance is required, including nights, weekends and holidays.

Experience & Education:

  • Minimum 5 years of retail and/or customer service experience.
  • Experience within a grocery market or food retail environment preferred
  • 2 years of experience in a management or supervisory role.
  • Experience in scheduling, inventory management, and cost control is highly preferred
  • Experience in overseeing multiple departments or full-store operations is preferred
  • High school education or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Other Qualifications:

  • Detail-oriented with good organizational skills, performing work accurately and efficiently while meeting deadlines.
  • Demonstrate effective leadership skills including the ability to delegate job duties, manage, lead, develop and motivate managers and associates to ensure that store operations are running effectively.
  • Must have strong interpersonal, communication (written and verbal), organization and follow-through skills.
  • Possess administrative skills: knowledge of spreadsheet, database, word processing programs, general office equipment: copier, fax, scanner.
  • Requires knowledge of electrical equipment, cooking equipment including sharp objects and the methods and materials used for food preparation.
  • Willingness to be open, to learn and take on new responsibilities.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs and frequently bend and twist from the waist.
  • Ability to work a full-time schedule, including nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to effectively perform all duties of every staff position in the store.
  • Must comply with all company policies and requirements.
  • Must possess or willing to obtain a valid TB Clearance.
