Full-Time Position:
Schedule: Half Math Teacher & Half Student Support
Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Principal or designee, the candidate will develop and implement rigorous math courses designed to support differentiated instructional practices, encourage student engagement, and provide effective assessment strategies that promote student learning, all within a Catholic environment. For student support, the candidate will monitor student grades by running weekly grade reports, communicating with teachers, students, parents, and administration regarding any students in danger of failing, and being available to meet individually with students who are supported by an Adjusted Education Plan (AEP).
Qualifications:
Required:
· Minimum of BS/BA degree in Education
· Possess or be eligible for a valid Michigan teaching certificate with an endorsement in Mathematics (EX)
· Commitment to working in a Catholic, college-preparatory environment
· Able to assess and document student progress
· Able to use differentiated instruction within the classroom
· Strong classroom management, collaboration, and communication skills
· Ability to communicate with students, parents, and other school staff through a
variety of means
· Demonstrated competence in the use of technology
Desired Characteristics:
· Experience working with secondary-level students
· Experience or willingness to teach Advanced Placement classes
· Experience collaborating with other teachers to develop strategies to assist students who struggle with mathematics
· Experience working in a Catholic school setting
· Possess additional endorsements
Responsibilities:
· Attend Hackett’s weekly Mass & other liturgical activities
· Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly
and productive environment
· Evaluate each student’s performance and growth
· Maintain accurate and up-to-date grades
· Run weekly grade reports, identifying students with failing grades and communicating with teachers, students, and home regarding their current academic status and remediation steps
· Meet with students regularly who possess an AEP. Support and assist them as self-advocates to be successful in the classroom. Partner with teachers and parents to ensure students receive the fullest academic experience possible
· Work with the administration and other teachers on implementing instructional strategies in the classroom to meet student success and accountability
· Attend staff meetings and participate in professional development (i.e. PLCs,
Academic Conferences)
· Perform other duties as assigned by administration
