The Position
Join our team as a Logistics Specialist I and play a key role in supporting efficient operations and global logistics. In this entry-level position, you’ll help prepare essential documentation for spare parts, tools, test equipment, materials, and technical manuals. You’ll also assist with routing shipments, coordinating and tracking inventory, maintaining accurate records of parts and equipment, and ensuring proper storage allocation. This role offers the opportunity to build hands-on experience while learning important state, federal, and international regulations related to shipping, import, and export compliance.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepare logistics documentation for spares, tools, test equipment, materials, and manuals
- Route and coordinate the shipment of logistics materials to ensure accurate delivery
- Maintain records of equipment, components, repair parts, and associated manuals
- Track logistics materials and parts for proper allocation within storage facilities
- Support the documentation and reporting of shipping activities
- Learn and apply relevant state, federal, and global import/export regulations
- Assist in ensuring compliance with logistics protocols and transportation safety standards
- Perform inventory checks and update systems for tracking material movement
- Coordinate with warehouse and transportation teams to ensure timely and efficient logistics operations
- Participate in safety-sensitive operations including handling hazardous materials and inspecting equipment
- Occasionally operate or assist with heavy machinery and logistics equipment under supervision
- Frequently walk, sit, stand, climb stairs and steps
- Frequently repeat the same hand, arm, and finger motion many times to include finger and hand dexterity
- Frequently requires vision abilities to include close, distance, depth perception, and telling the difference between colors
- Occasionally requires hearing abilities to include discerning different tones and volumes
- Frequently lifting or carrying up to 50 lbs.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- No immediate direct reports
Skills & Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- A higher level degree may substitute for experience
- Related experience may be considered in lieu of required education
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
- Strong organizational and documentation skills
- Ability to track and manage logistics materials and inventory
- Attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping
- Willingness to learn import/export regulations and compliance standards
- Physical ability to lift or carry up to 50 lbs. and perform frequent standing, walking, and climbing
- Ability to work in varying environmental conditions (indoor/outdoor, temperature changes)
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
Preferred Experience
- Experience with inventory or supply chain management systems
- Familiarity with aviation maintenance tracking systems (e.g., AvPro)
- HazMat training or certification
- Ability to operate a forklift or similar warehouse equipment
- Understanding of shelf-life and material handling procedures
- Experience with shipping databases (e.g., FedEx, UPS, DHL)
- Background in the aerospace, defense, or military industry
- Knowledge of logistics best practices and shipping compliance
Work Environment
- On-site, Full time position located in Hagerstown, Maryland
Compensation
- Position offers an hourly W2 Rate between $15 - $21, with additional benefits
Requirements
- Because this client is a Federal Government Contractor performing services for the DoD, US Air Force, NASA and others, they do require US, Non-Dual Citizenship
