The Position
As a Structural Technician IV, you'll use your skills to assemble and create major structural assemblies and perform minor part-fitting tasks, such as filing, sawing, riveting, drilling, trimming, and framing. You will update job status in our operations database and convert blueprints into precise structural assemblies, including basic layouts, precision drilling, countersinking, and using calibrated tools. You'll align parts on jigs and aerospace vehicles with templates and fixtures and measure parts with micrometers and calipers to ensure accurate dimensions.
In addition, you’ll modify both incomplete and complete assemblies, incorporate necessary changes, and monitor quality using statistical process controls. You’ll also perform maintenance duties and ensure effective communication with team members, quality control, and engineering to ensure the success of each project.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Assemble and fabricate major structural assemblies and perform minor part-fitting operations (filing, sawing, riveting, drilling, etc.)
- Translate blueprints into structural assemblies, including layout, precision drilling, countersinking, and tool calibration
- Align parts on jigs and aerospace vehicles using templates and fixtures to ensure proper fit and structure
- Measure parts with micrometers and calipers to verify dimensions and accuracy
- Modify and incorporate changes into incomplete and complete assemblies, ensuring design compliance
- Monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical control procedures and quality standards
- Perform maintenance duties on structures, assemblies, and tools as required
- Ensure proper communication and coordination between team members, quality control, and engineering teams
- Utilize calibrated tools to maintain high standards of structural assembly accuracy
- Work in a safety-sensitive environment adhering to safety protocols and regulations
Supervisory Responsibilities
- No immediate direct reports
Skills & Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent and typically 10 or more years of relevant experience
- A higher level degree may substitute for experience
- Related experience may be considered in lieu of required education
- Must have/own tools in good working order
- Ability to understand and interpret moderately complex technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals and/or publications
- Ability to complete installations per technical drawings while maintaining edge distance and pitch
- Advanced experience with structure assembly, minor part fitting techniques and repair and refinishing such as airframe corrosion removal, as applicable
- Ability to install various fasteners such as rivets and hi-locks
Preferred Experience
- Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense, NASA or US Military
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance may be required eventually, but not right away
- Ability to travel
Work Environment
- On-site position located in Hagerstown, Maryland
- This is a 1-year contract
Compensation
- Position offers an hourly W2 Rate between $45 - $50, with additional benefits
