Company Description H2 Equipment, founded in 2014 by industry professional Eric Husmann, is a specialized construction equipment sales, rental, and service center. The company focuses on keeping customers’ equipment running through repairs, inspections, and general service. H2 Equipment operates a dedicated hydraulic cylinder bench and maintains an extensive inventory of seals and parts, ordering additional components the same day if needed. Known for handling complex and uncommon equipment issues, the business has built a reputation as a trusted resource for construction equipment support.
Role Description The Mechanic role at H2 Equipment is a full-time, on-site position based in Columbus, NE. This role involves performing diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on a wide range of construction and heavy equipment in the service department. Day-to-day tasks include inspecting equipment for wear or damage, conducting preventive maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues, and completing repair orders accurately and on time. The Mechanic will collaborate with parts and service staff, follow safety protocols, and help maintain a clean, organized work area. This position supports the company’s commitment to quick turnaround and high-quality service for customers.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in Maintenance, Preventive Maintenance, and Maintenance & Repair for construction and heavy equipment.
- Experience working with Heavy Equipment, including hydraulic systems and related components.
- Proficient Troubleshooting abilities for mechanical, hydraulic, and basic electrical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and work orders.
- Commitment to workplace safety and proper use of tools and equipment.
- Relevant technical training or certification in diesel, heavy equipment, or industrial mechanics preferred.
- Previous experience in an equipment service center, dealership, or similar environment is beneficial.
- Reliable work ethic, attention to detail, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
