H.T. Lyons is seeking an experienced Safety & Risk Manager to lead our safety, risk management, and claims administration programs across New York State. Claims Management
- Identify, analyze, and classify operational and insurable risks for financial impact to H.T. Lyons, including expected frequency, trends, and severity.
- Assist management at H.T. Lyons regarding insurance and risk.
- Administer insurance policies including workers compensation, general liability, and auto programs
- Provide all claims and compliance reporting.
- Work with employees and customers to build positive relationships.
- Initiate and maintain insurance industry relationships.
Safety Management
- Develop and execute health and safety plans in the workplace according to legal guidelines.
- Develop, implement, and manage project-specific safety plans.
- Work with Company management, office, and field supervisory personnel to prepare, distribute, implement, and enforce policies to establish a positive culture regarding health and safety.
- Evaluate practices, procedures, and facilities to assess risk and adherence to the applicable laws and regulations.
- Evaluate office, fabrication shop, and customer sites to ensure adherence to established safe work practices.
- Document, report, and track findings both positive and needing improvement.
- Conduct and/or coordinate training and presentations for health and safety matters and incident prevention.
- Inspect and monitor compliance with policies, regulations, and laws by performing project site, employee, and operational observations.
- Investigate accidents or incidents.
- Ensure root cause findings are relayed to the field personnel via lessons learned to prevent recurrence.
- Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities, and/or prevention measures.
- Report on health and safety awareness, issues, and statistics.
- Inform management of new or changing safety and health related regulations in NY state, NY City.
- Assist local operations teams with hiring and managing third party safety consultants (dedicated to project sites) when assigned.
- Liaison between regulatory agencies and site teams
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Valid state-issued driver's license.
- Minimum 5 years of safety management experience.
- Minimum 2 years of multi-line claims management experience.
- Minimum 5 years working in a Safety Manager role (construction industry experience strongly preferred).
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification (1926 standards) issued within the last five years.
- Thorough knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations and compliance requirements.
- Strong understanding of risk assessment, insurance programs, and claims administration.
- Experience developing safety policies, procedures, and reporting systems.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Strong attention to detail and observation skills.
- Ability to travel regularly throughout New York State and New York City.
- Willingness to respond to incidents outside normal business hours when necessary.

Pay: $100,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
