Corporate M&A Associate
Our client, a highly regarded national law firm, is seeking a talented Corporate M&A Associate to join its growing Corporate & Securities practice in Chicago. This is an excellent opportunity for a mid-level associate looking to work on sophisticated domestic and cross-border M&A and private equity transactions within a nationally recognized transactional platform.
The practice represents private equity sponsors, portfolio companies, public companies, and privately held businesses in a broad range of complex corporate matters, with a particular emphasis on mergers and acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, growth equity investments, divestitures, recapitalizations, and other strategic transactions. The team regularly serves as lead counsel on high-profile middle-market and large-cap deals across industries including healthcare, industrials, consumer, retail, and life sciences.
The group has developed a strong reputation for advising on sophisticated and high-value transactions, consistently earning recognition in national M&A and private equity league tables. Attorneys in the practice work closely with clients throughout all phases of the transaction lifecycle, including structuring, due diligence, negotiation, execution, and post-closing integration matters.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will have:
- 3 years of substantive corporate M&A experience at a leading law firm
- Significant experience handling mergers and acquisitions and private equity transactions
- Experience representing private equity sponsors, strategic buyers, sellers, and portfolio companies
- Strong drafting and negotiation skills, including purchase agreements and ancillary transaction documents
- Experience managing due diligence processes and coordinating transaction teams
- Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Strong academic credentials
Experience with securities law matters, SEC reporting, or capital markets transactions is considered a plus, but is not required.
Requirements

- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
- Active bar license in good standing in a U.S. jurisdiction
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $310,000 – $435,000 (Final compensation based on experience)
