Duties
- Read and interpret detailed blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to determine project requirements.
- Operate a variety of machinery including CNC laser cutters, plasma cutters, press brake machines, CNC milling machines, CNC lathes, stamping presses, and electrical discharge machining equipment to shape and form sheet metal components.
- Program CNC machines for precise cutting, bending, and machining tasks to ensure accuracy and repeatability.
- Use hand tools such as calipers, micrometers, and precision measuring instruments for quality inspection and measurement verification throughout fabrication processes.
- Fabricate sheet metal parts by cutting, bending, welding, and assembling using appropriate tooling and techniques.
- Perform quality inspections on finished products to ensure adherence to specifications using micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring devices.
- Operate cranes and forklifts safely for material handling and transportation within the workspace.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area while adhering to safety protocols at all times.
- Collaborate with team members on assembly projects and troubleshoot any fabrication issues promptly.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in sheet metal fabrication or manufacturing environments with a strong understanding of mechanical processes.
- Proficiency in blueprint reading and interpreting technical drawings accurately.
- Hands-on experience with CNC programming and operation of CNC laser cutting, plasma cutting, CNC milling machines, CNC lathe, stamping presses, and electrical discharge machining equipment.
- Skilled in welding techniques including MIG, TIG or arc welding as applicable.
- Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) principles for precise measurements.
- Ability to operate hand tools such as calipers, micrometers, hand grinders, and other fabrication tools effectively.
- Familiarity with safety procedures related to crane operation, forklift handling, machining equipment, and general manufacturing safety standards.
- Basic math skills for measurements and calculations related to fabrication tasks.
- Mechanical aptitude combined with strong problem-solving abilities for troubleshooting machinery or fabrication issues.
- Certification in forklift operation is preferred but not mandatory; willingness to obtain certification is advantageous.
