Job Summary
The Quality Control / Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for ensuring the safety, quality, and compliance of all agricultural products from field to distribution. This role oversees food safety programs, regulatory compliance, and quality systems to meet USDA, FDA, and customer requirements while supporting sustainable and efficient farming operations. The manager will also lead and develop a team of quality control staff to ensure consistent execution of quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
· Develop, implement, and maintain food safety and quality assurance programs (GAP, HACCP, FSMA)
· Lead, supervise, and mentor a team of quality control technicians and inspectors
· Monitor crop production, harvesting, packing, and storage processes
· Conduct field inspections, facility audits, and sanitation checks
· Ensure compliance with USDA, FDA, and state regulations
· Lead audits and manage corrective actions
· Investigate quality issues and customer complaints
· Maintain inspection and compliance records
· Train staff on food safety and quality standards
· Collaborate with operations to improve quality and reduce waste
· Oversee supplier and input quality
· Monitor environmental factors (soil, water, pesticides)
· Drive continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Agriculture, Biology, or related field
· 5 years of QA/food safety experience in agriculture or food production
· 2 years of leadership or supervisory experience
· Knowledge of GAP, HACCP, FSMA
· Experience with farm and packing operations
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
