Responsibilities
- Review and interpret medical records to accurately assign appropriate codes using CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS.
- Prepare and submit insurance claims electronically or via paper to various payers, ensuring compliance with all billing regulations.
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims by contacting insurance companies and patients to resolve issues promptly.
- Maintain detailed documentation of billing activities, including claim status updates, payment postings, and correspondence with payers.
- Collaborate with medical office staff to verify patient information, insurance details, and ensure proper coding practices are followed.
- Stay current with evolving medical coding standards, insurance policies, and healthcare regulations to ensure accurate billing procedures.
- Utilize EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems efficiently to manage patient data and billing information.
Requirements
- Experience in medical billing with a strong understanding of medical coding practices including CPT coding, ICD-10 coding, and HCPCS.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and healthcare documentation standards.
- Familiarity with medical collection processes and effective strategies for resolving billing issues.
- Experience working with EMR/EHR systems for billing and record-keeping purposes.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills to ensure accuracy in all billing activities.
- Strong communication skills for interacting with insurance companies, patients, and healthcare providers.
Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
