What We Are Looking For
GVEC is looking to hire you for the position of Project Manager to deliver the unexpected with a willingness to continuously develop yourself, your department, and our organization. Reporting directly to the Chief Energy & Information Officer, you will help define and establish our project management function while leading critical technology and business initiatives across our Energy & Information Systems division, which includes IT, GIS, Data Analytics, and other strategic organizational projects. This is a newly created role serving as a central coordination point for cross-functional projects that drive operational excellence and strategic transformation across our organization. We're looking for a self-directed professional who can work with minimal oversight to assess our organizational needs, develop project management processes and frameworks, and provide recommendations on project management best practices tailored to our organizational structure and needs. You'll oversee projects from conception through implementation, ensuring they're delivered on time, within budget, and aligned with our organizational objectives.
Your Pay
The minimum starting pay for this role is $89,000 per year, plus bonuses that are tied to a multitude of organizational benchmarks set forth annually. Pay will be determined by skills, qualifications, and experience.
How You’ll Help
- Lead end-to-end management of IT, Data Analytics, GIS, and organizational projects, including infrastructure upgrades, system implementations, and business initiatives
- Serve as primary liaison between technical teams and business leadership
- Develop comprehensive project plans with defined scope, timelines, budgets, and resource requirements
- Coordinate cross-functional teams, including technical staff, vendors, and business stakeholders
- Manage project risks, issues, and dependencies while maintaining clear communication with leadership
- Ensure projects comply with utility industry regulations and internal security/compliance standards
- Support organizational change management to facilitate user adoption of new technologies and processes
- Track project metrics and provide regular status reporting to executives and stakeholders
Experience/Skills You’ll Need
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5 years of IT project management experience
- Proven ability to work independently with minimal oversight and take initiative in ambiguous situations
- Ability to manage technical and non-technical projects across multiple business domains
- Experience leading large-scale technology implementations or system integrations
- Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, enterprise systems, and software development lifecycles
- Experience with project management tools (MS Project, Jira, or similar)
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to convey information clearly and confidently
- Self-motivation, a strong work ethic, and impeccable integrity
Preferred Experience/Skills
- Experience in utility, energy, or other regulated industries
- PMP, CSM, PSM, PMI-ACP, or other relevant project management certification
- Familiarity with ITIL framework and service management principles
- Familiarity with industry-specific compliance and security requirements
- Understanding of GIS systems and applications
