Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and efficient Accountant to oversee financial operations at our civil engineering firm in Tulsa, Oklahoma. This role requires strong analytical and computer skills, a desire to constantly improve, and the ability to work collaboratively with a flexible team.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Management & Reporting:

• Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, company credit cards, and general ledger.
• Prepare monthly financial statements.
• Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and industry-specific regulations.
• Manage cash flow and financial forecasting to support project budgets and make strategic recommendations.
• Manage multiple sets of books for Joint Ventures and other teaming or partnering arrangements.

Budgeting & Cost Control:

• Aid in development and monitor annual company budget.
• Identify financial risks and provide recommendations for cost-saving strategies.

Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) & Benefits Management:

• Coordinate annual ESOP valuations, working closely with external consultants.
• Manage employee benefits accounting, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other compensation-related expenses.
• Collaborate with HR to ensure accurate payroll deductions and benefit plan reporting.

Regulatory Compliance & Auditing:

• Ensure compliance with state and federal tax regulations, including sales tax, use tax, and payroll tax.
• Coordinate with external auditors and prepare necessary documentation for audits and annual reports.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related work experience.
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience. Experience in the AEC (architecture, engineering, and construction) industry and with open-book management is preferred.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (Deltek Ajera preferred), payroll software (Paycor preferred), Microsoft Excel, and financial modeling. A technical aptitude to manage data.
• Knowledge: Understanding of job costing, project accounting, ESOP administration, employee benefits accounting, and government contracting regulations, specifically Federal Acquisition Regulation Part 31.
• Soft Skills: Ability to collaborate well with others, willingness to teach or train on financial topics, strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
