Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and efficient Accountant to oversee financial operations at our civil engineering firm in Tulsa, Oklahoma. This role requires strong analytical and computer skills, a desire to constantly improve, and the ability to work collaboratively with a flexible team.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management & Reporting:
- Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, company credit cards, and general ledger.
- Prepare monthly financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and industry-specific regulations.
- Manage cash flow and financial forecasting to support project budgets and make strategic recommendations.
- Manage multiple sets of books for Joint Ventures and other teaming or partnering arrangements.
Budgeting & Cost Control:
- Aid in development and monitor annual company budget.
- Identify financial risks and provide recommendations for cost-saving strategies.
Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) & Benefits Management:
- Coordinate annual ESOP valuations, working closely with external consultants.
- Manage employee benefits accounting, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other compensation-related expenses.
- Collaborate with HR to ensure accurate payroll deductions and benefit plan reporting.
Regulatory Compliance & Auditing:
- Ensure compliance with state and federal tax regulations, including sales tax, use tax, and payroll tax.
- Coordinate with external auditors and prepare necessary documentation for audits and annual reports.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related work experience.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience. Experience in the AEC (architecture, engineering, and construction) industry and with open-book management is preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (Deltek Ajera preferred), payroll software (Paycor preferred), Microsoft Excel, and financial modeling. A technical aptitude to manage data.
- Knowledge: Understanding of job costing, project accounting, ESOP administration, employee benefits accounting, and government contracting regulations, specifically Federal Acquisition Regulation Part 31.
- Soft Skills: Ability to collaborate well with others, willingness to teach or train on financial topics, strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
